This years little road trip was planned in about 3 days time...1 of which was de-mousing the RV and trying to get heat in it so it would dry out the mildew that had set in over the winter time. ok ok I will be honest my dad did the de-mousing I just helped with removing the proof that my RV had turned into a mouse hotel!
Then on Sunday it was my nieces birthday and she had a fun afternoon of golf planned with a bbq following and my girls were the babysitters for her little boys.. so I went played...did not too shabby especially for someone who has hardly played :) and then had to yank the babysitters as when the clock struck 6pm I was beginning to panic on how much I had to do to get ready to leave yesterday morning.
I also decided to take my good friends kids with us... so that is 6 kids, 13 years old and under :) 5 girls and 1 adorable 7 year old boy! sometimes I wonder at my sanity levels haha ... in all seriousness the more the merrier has kind of been a major part of who I am since as far back as I can remember! my house always had more people living in it then just my 3 sisters myself and my parents... always!!
So I packed until 12:30 am Monday morning... got a little bit of sleep... then was up at 5:30 to finish packing and started loading up. Last Minute Lise :) but I always pull it off and after my dear old dad checked my air pressure in my tires I was ready to roll.
The road trip began!
I crossed the border at 8:30 am... stopped a couple of times for gas, more air tire pressure checks and fills..thanks to Les Schwab for being FREE and their amazing customer service!! and I had to stop to get groceries for the week.... 6 kids 1 momma 2 shopping carts and a WHOLE lot of sympathetic and are you crazy looks and a fair sum of cash later and we were loaded up and back on the road... the kids were SOOOO excited when we finally crossed into Oregon and screams of delight of we are there we are there were quickly diminished when Emily read the instructions and announced we had about 2-3 hours more of driving to get to our destination.... I don't really enjoy the drive when I am nervous about where I am going and then add to that we were in Portland traffic and it was a little nerve wracking for me .... but soon enough we were back in the country and then more country...and then windy narrow roads!! which I actually love driving but as this was now after 5 pm my legs were starting to feel a little crampy and my arms were a tad sore from driving a little stiff :) the windy narrow road drive was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! dense forest with massive trees, creeks running beside the roads and little cabins snuggled in between... it was gorgeous.
In what had started to feel like forever we arrived at our RV resort... I checked in... bought wet firewood :0( filled up with propane thrilled that the resort could fill my tank that I should have had filled in town somewhere and was mildly panicking about as no propane = no hot cooked food for a week! the girls and I set up their "easy" tent... which was in fact very easy to set up! we set up the camping chairs and I quickly started making dinner as it was now 7:30 and everyone was famished... I was a little surprised that we ate the entire large pot of spaghetti...why does everything taste better when you are camping?! :) and then I was mildly panicking at the lack of cell service and poor wifi connection,.. and yes it has come to my attention that I did more then a normal amount of "mildly panicking" ... I look forward to unwinding today and resting for the next 3 days :)
The poor girls got a little wet in their tent last night and the wind was threatening to pick them up and relocating them and it was quite socked in this morning but as I type the blue sky is peering out and we are going to have a great day regardless!!
more of our adventure as it unfolds!!
