OTTAWA - The three opposition leaders signed a historic accord Monday, agreeing to topple the government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the first opportunity, likely next Monday, and promising "bold steps" on an economic stimulus package.

Harper has but one chance to stop them. He can prorogue - or suspend - Parliament this week, essentially shutting it down until he and his party can return to the House of Commons early in the new year with a budget.

Even on that point, though, there are some constitutional experts who may argue a prime minister cannot prorogue Parliament simply to avoid a confidence motion he surely knows he will lose.

Liberal Leader Stephane Dion said Monday the coalition he will lead will be a "stable, effective alternative" to the governing Conservatives."

There is so much more to that article go here to read the whole thing.

HOW IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS CAN ANY CANADIAN GO FOR THIS? I think this is just a joke, actually I am hoping it is a joke. I thought the vote was loud and clear that Canadians did not want Dion as prime minister so now he is going to try to force his way in? does he think he will have any respect of the Canadian people? he is willing to sign with a party that is for separating our Country? This is madness. This is absolute mutiny and in the old days they would be tried for treason. Seriously can't think that a loosing party can join with the other LOOSING parties to oust the WINNING party..... it doesn't make sense to me. Harper is who Canadians voted for and who should be our Prime Minister, HE IS OUR PRIME MINISTER! Doesn't this open doors for any opposition to oust the other winning party? what is this going to do to the young people who question what good their one vote can do? if this can happen then WHAT point is there in voting at all if the other parties can just get together and try to collapse the Country?

There should be an outcry here people. This is not democracy this is not a fair let the people decide anymore!

I am Canadian. I am outraged.

I am outraged too.
I was listening to people talk on the bus about it this morning...and one guy said that by forming a coalition government, a majority of Canadians were being represented. I didn't think about it then...but I should have said...No, I bet there a number of MPs that would NOT have been elected because people would not have voted for that party if they knew they were going to form a coalition.
It's ridiculous...especially after having an election. Give them a chance.

The thing we have to remember here too is that even though the election took place almost 2 months ago, they only just took their seats within the last 2 weeks. In the past couple years that the Conservatives have been in leadership, they were still a minority. Any Tom, Dick and Harry with a brain knows that if you don't have a majority government... things move a lot slower than the PM and the people would like.

In listening to the 3 party leaders, it is about "taking out" Harper and getting power that they wouldn't have normally been able to get. When ever is Layton (a socialist) and Duceppe (a separatist) going to see power like this? I can see the Liberals getting into bed with the NDP, that is almost palatable, but to hop into bed with the Bloq Quebecois really shows that they are insane!! Duceppe said during the most recent election campaign that he "does not care about Canada". His primary goal is to protect the interests of Quebec first and foremost and at all costs.

The big question now becomes, how can NDP'ers & Liberals from other parts of western Canada continue to support these parties? They've sacrificed ethics for power.

There is already positive things flourishing due to the change of power. The prime minister is making it better for us already! Most people don't realize how much money there is out there. During economic times like this, there is more money to be had than ever. Because of the bailouts and economy, lenders are bending over backwards to bail you out too. Believe it or not, there is people getting tons of cheap money nowdays to start businesses, buy homes, pay off debt, and more. Bailout is for YOU
