Lala's Oscar picks....and the Oscar goes too

yah just cuz you know I know you all value my opinions

HAHAHA

but indulge me

I love the Oscar's. I love award shows period. I love the clothes the glamor, just love it all.
Last year I picked who I thought was going to win, I got a lot right....well if memory serves me right anyways.

So here are the nominations for this year and who I think will/should win.

Performance by an actor in a leading role

Leonardo DiCaprio in “Blood Diamond” (Warner Bros.)

Ryan Gosling in “Half Nelson” (THINKFilm)

Peter O’Toole in “Venus” (Miramax, Filmfour and UK Film Council)

Will Smith in “The Pursuit of Happyness” (Sony Pictures Releasing)

Forest Whitaker in “The Last King of Scotland” (Fox Searchlight)

Now of course being a Canadian I am cheering for Ryan Gosling, he was in the Notebook, such a great movie and a great actor!
I think Peter O'Toole will get it OR Forest Whitaker.......not totally sure but I think one of these two.

Performance by an actor in a supporting role

Alan Arkin in “Little Miss Sunshine” (Fox Searchlight)

Jackie Earle Haley in “Little Children” (New Line)

Djimon Hounsou in “Blood Diamond” (Warner Bros.)

Eddie Murphy in “Dreamgirls” (DreamWorks and Paramount)

Mark Wahlberg in “The Departed” (Warner Bros.)

have to admit that of these movies I only saw Little Miss Sunshine, in which Alan Arkin was great but maybe not Oscar great? I think Djimon Hounsou is going to win.

Performance by an actress in a leading role

Penélope Cruz in “Volver” (Sony Pictures Classics)

Judi Dench in “Notes on a Scandal” (Fox Searchlight)

Helen Mirren in “The Queen” (Miramax, Pathé and Granada)

Meryl Streep in “The Devil Wears Prada” (20th Century Fox)

Kate Winslet in “Little Children” (New Line)

Again the only movie I saw was the devil wears prada, which Meryl was great in, but she is ALWAYS great!! I think Helen Mirren is going to win, she won the golden globe as well for this movie.

Performance by an actress in a supporting role

Adriana Barraza in “Babel” (Paramount and Paramount Vantage)

Cate Blanchett in “Notes on a Scandal” (Fox Searchlight)

Abigail Breslin in “Little Miss Sunshine” (Fox Searchlight)

Jennifer Hudson in “Dreamgirls” (DreamWorks and Paramount)

Rinko Kikuchi in “Babel” (Paramount and Paramount Vantage)

I just watched Babel the other night, it was a good movie but had a really strange ending, well it was kind of a strange movie all together. I think it would be great to see Jennifer Hudson win it, kind of the all American dream win I think. I also think Abigail Breslin did a fantastic job in little miss sunshine and think she deserves it...........but have to admit I think Jennifer might take this one.

Best animated feature film of the year

“Cars” (Buena Vista) John Lasseter

“Happy Feet” (Warner Bros.) George Miller

“Monster House” (Sony Pictures Releasing) Gil Kenan

happy feet is the only one is this category that I haven't seen. I still feel Over the Hedge should have been nominated, ok getting over that....... I think Happy Feet is going to win.
I personally didn't think cars or monster house were that great!

Achievement in directing

“Babel” (Paramount and Paramount Vantage) Alejandro González Iñárritu

“The Departed” (Warner Bros.) Martin Scorsese

“Letters from Iwo Jima” (Warner Bros.) Clint Eastwood

“The Queen” (Miramax, Pathé and Granada) Stephen Frears

“United 93” (Universal and StudioCanal) Paul Greengrass

I am totally cheering for Martin Scorsese.........I think he should win.......if it is not him it will be Stephen Frears.

Best motion picture of the year

“Babel” (Paramount and Paramount Vantage) An Anonymous Content/Zeta Film/Central Films ProductionAlejandro González Iñárritu, Jon Kilik and Steve Golin, Producers

“The Departed” (Warner Bros.)A Warner Bros. Pictures Production Graham King, Producer

“Letters from Iwo Jima” (Warner Bros.)A DreamWorks Pictures/Warner Bros. Pictures ProductionClint Eastwood, Steven Spielberg and Robert Lorenz, Producers

“Little Miss Sunshine” (Fox Searchlight)A Big Beach/Bona Fide ProductionDavid T. Friendly, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub, Producers

“The Queen” (Miramax, Pathé and Granada)A Granada ProductionAndy Harries, Christine Langan and Tracey Seaward, Producers

I think the queen is going to win this. Usually I try to see all the movies before the Oscar's but I have no interest in watching the departed....not a gangster movie lover, but J watched it and said it was awesome.

ok well there you have my pics.......hope you all have a great weekend! J left this morning for the Coast we are praying that he gets in with the best Neurologist down there and we can get some answers! We also got delivered 3 HUGE boxes full of food yesterday, our freezer cupboards and fridge is FULL.....God is blessing us and we pray that a double portion will fall upon those who have been so giving to us.

oh I also saw this on Operah yesterday and I am thinking about joining the website.......what do you all think of this?

K - a side note... get rid of the snowflakes, I'm so tired of winter --- I need sunshine and spring!!!!

I haven't seen any of those movies except for The Devil Wears Prada and I don't think she'll win, it wasn't dramatic enough of a movie and the most dramatic type roles seen to win.

I know I want a new look again too but Liz who designed it is going thru a lot right now and I don't want to bother her!

I love the Oscars, but I'm going to miss it this year because of a church thing. I would tape it but I'm who has the time to watch. I'm hoping Jennifer Hudson wins - she was amazing in Dreamgirls.

I'm hoping that Jackie Earle Haley wins. I haven't seen the movie, I just have to pull for a guy who came back from beyond "has been".

Enjoy reading our daughters blogs, the thing I would like seen changed on the format is the space used at the top - Like when I print it off there is nothing for the first half page. Try starting the message close to the top and you will save me a bundle of paper. Like this blog is pages long. Always knew you could talk alot and this proves it. Love ya just the same.

Hi, I'm catching up on your blog this week. I agree with Art, above, I'd love to see Jackie Earle Haley win. I love comeback stories. I'm still rooting for Jennifer Hudson, and Cate Blanchett and Helen Mirren are two of my favorite actresses. I agree about Scorsese, and as much as I hate to admit it, I'd like to see DiCaprio win. I teach 6th grade religion class at our church this evening followed by Mass so I'll miss the red carpet and the first hour or so.

Congrats on the new job - hope it's great. Hope J. is feeling better and Morgan too. There's been a lot of changes in your lives in the past months (moving, J's illness, your job) - of course she's going to be be feeling stress. Just keep an eye on her.
