Lala's Movie Reviews...... take 3

We have been watching a lot of movies lately since J is home all the time. It is nice having him home, something that we are not used too since he has never been not working for such a long time. He hardly ever took holidays even! Since we are already movie buffs we have pretty much exhausted the choices at the video store!

Here are some that we watched and what I thought, cuz I know you all value my opinion so much! HAHA

The Illusionist starring Edward Norton, Jessica Biel and Paul Giamatti. We loved this movie! like really liked it! there was no swearing and the one love scene showed no private body parts and was not explicit. If you like a good drama with twists and turns and I really can't say too much or I will ruin it for you! but lala thumbs up!

Employee of the Month starring Dane Cook (never heard of him before but he was quite good), Jessica Simpson, Andy Dick and a bunch of others that although familar I don't recognize the names. If you like movies like Old School, or other Saturday Night Live movies, then you will enjoy this one. While the language wasn't that great all the time the story line was cute and it was quite funny at times!

Snakes on a plane starring Samuel J Jackson, ok you know we are bored when we watch this! it was exactly what you would expect it to be, a major waste of time, but that is what we have been doing!! we were kind of surprised that Samuel Jackson would be in a movie like this but..... maybe he was bored too!

Lady in the Water starring M. Night Shyamalan (actor and director), Paul Giamatti, Bryce Dallas Howard. We really like all the movies that M. Night Shyamalan has done, the sixth sense, the village ( we LOVED the village) , unbreakable, and signs (another of our favorite movies). I love all the twists and turns and the thought Paul Giamatti did an Oscar worthy performance! So this one gets a lalas thumbs up!

Little Miss Sunshine starring Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell (from the office, you already know we are big fans of his!), Toni Collette ( LOVE HER, she was in In Her Shoes, I loved that movie I reviewed that one last time!), Paul Dano and Abigail Breslin who is up for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. This was a quirky little movie with a lot of language!!! the story of a disfunctional family at it's best! Even with the language we were hooked and enjoyed it very much!

Open Season starring the voices of Ashton Kutcher and Marten Lawrence. This was a really cute movie, pretty obviously an ANTI- hunting movie!! hehe but good none-the-less, quite funny and the girls really enjoyed it and J and I were entertained too.

ok well there you have lala's movie reviews!! hope you enjoyed it! I have to take J to the doctor today, he could barely walk yesterday and today is another really bad day. I have already been out on the town delivering resumes and talking to Hailey's teacher, she doesn't seem to want to go to school. I think she is stressed about what is happening to J and there are "girl issues" going on in the classroom as well. That's a lot for a 6 year old to handle, well for anyone to handle! thanks again for all the prayers, we certainly need them!

I LOVE M. Night's movies! They are my favorites! I heard Snakes on a Plane was HORRIBLE, with a capital H! I want to see the Illusionist. It looks good. Little Miss Sunshine was quirky huh? Still pretty good.

I can't even remember the name of the last movie we saw, it must have been bad...

I'm still rewatching Devil wears Prada, over and over again. Just like the wardrobe!!!! ;-)

I loved Lady in the Water. I have to admit I'm a fan of M. Knight. I wasn't going to check out the Illunionist but after your rave review I might have to now. Thanks for sharing.

One last thought Dreamgirls is a must see.

Great reviews, though a confirmation of how I need to get out more...or stay in. :-)
We loved Lady in the Water so much... as soon as we were done watching the special features, we got on Amazon and bought the movie AND the bedtime book!

The Illusionist was EXCELLENT! Loved the twists in that!

We liked Employee of the Month too. Pretty funny and clever too.

Sorry to hear that J. and Hailey are both having a tough time.

I enjoyed the movie reviews - we rarely watch movies that aren't in our own collection (i.e. lots of Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and kids' movies). I did want to see The Illusionist, though. Son #2 just won a pack with 5 movie rentals - maybe I'll borrow one.

I'm such a nerd, but I'm curious about the new Drew Barrymore/Hugh Grant movie, "Music and Lyrics". Opens here in the US on Feb. 14.

I went and rented Employee of the Month last night - based on your recommendation - Dave rolled his eyes when he saw what movie I picked up. It was good and funny!!

I thought Jessica had a bigger role but really she wasn't anything special or the lead, I actually wished they had cast someone else 'cause it was the reason I didn't see it in the first place.
