Hiring a housekeeper

ok so the first house cleaner ladies are coming tomorrow to give me an estimate! I have no idea what they charge or what to ask to have done?? I know I want the bathrooms .... fridge .... cupboards .... all the icky stuff I hate doing!! I have never interviewed a house cleaner before though.

what are some questions I should ask? or is it straight forward?

the dogs are being so cute and cuddly together...I am afraid I am loosing my nerve to sell them. I know I am weak... and maybe I do love them more than I want too!

ok have to go clean, my Aunt from the ranch is coming to stay the night and heading into Vancouver tomorrow so I have to change sheets and air out the room and try to bring some order here ..... but it is hard to do when I am hacking so hard that I pulled a muscle in my shoulder... and now some lovely gooey stuff is coming out which is a good sign I think though! sorry to gross you out! I just want to be better and don't understand why this is the 3rd cold I have had since we moved here Sept 1? do you think it could be stress? sorry this post is kind of all over the place ... kind of what I am feeling inside .... the good news is J arrived safe and sound in GP last night and started his next shift this morning. I am driving a SUV (rental) and I LOVE it, getting to drive all these brand new vehicles sure makes you want one. I love driving it way more than driving his huge honkin truck around...I always have to park far away cuz it takes up 2 spots and has no auto locks or windows...and with putting foofoo in her carseat it is a royal pain in the arse..... and I feel spoiled saying that but it is true! ok well better get off and go clean.

Have a great Tuesday.

Lucky girl! Getting someone in once or twice a week to do the icky jobs is something I'm working towards too. Gaa, just do the bathrooms and maybe the kitchen floor and I'd be happier.

My friend is a housecleaner and she likes it when new clients show her EXACTLY what they want done. You know, take them on a tour of your house and point out the important things. I think it would be great if you could have a peek at their house too (even though that's probably impossible), because their own home would reflect their work. My friend's house is permanently spotless! She dusts blinds for fun.

I've never had a house keeper either so I have no idea of what to ask! I would imagine you would want some references to check of people he/she has cleaned for before. I would mainly think that you would want to be comfortable with them and feel like they could be in your home and you wouldn't feel weird about it!

I hope you get better!!!

I had a housecleaner come in and give me an estimate once, she started the conversation off by saying, "I don't dust shelves full of items" the rest of speech was along the same lines, "I don't..." when she did clean the house, 1 time to see... she missed the tops of the doors, you know above the trim. I had 90 year old wooden doors with that old fashioned huge trim... how could you miss that!!M

My man wants more info on that live-in nanny/cleaner from overseas... how much was it????

Yay, a housekeeper. My sister tried to start a housecleaning business, but got a job in the meantime. She would come and do my house, but didn't clean if there were things on the floor or in the tub...I think that is pretty standard...it was nice to have her do the bathrooms and mop the floors when we weren't home...

Hey La La,
Wawee here. Housekeeping my neck of the woods. At CLA I was at 10.00 hr. Homes should be no more then 15.00 (don't tell this to renee!, I charge her 20.00! but then again I charge her a flat rate and do extra...) Two to three hours is av with one person and two people One hour & 1/2 tops. NEVER clean your house before they come, but pick up stuff is appriecated!, ie cloths, papers, cups, plates of food, bread crusts in corners, and ginch off the bedroom floor!!!etc. $15.00 may be high, but the cleaners should use their own supplies and equipment!. But then I live in "Vancouver" and every one pays out of the nose here!!. Can't wait till PG!.

I can put on my apron, get out my duster, plug in the vacuum and get paid for doing this wonderful work - hoo-rah. Imagine doing a job you love and getting paid for it. Where's the application form???

wow, ontarions charge a lot more an hour. we are talking over $70.00 an hour. That is insane I know.
my hubby and I think he is in the wrong business. Not me just him. I don't like to clean my own house let
alone someone elses. But Hubby is good at it.
