Miss a little....... miss a lot

Ok this is totally how I am feeling today. One day of being really sick, must have been the 24 hour flu, and my house went from needing some tidying to needing a total overhaul.............and I ask myself...."how does this happen?"...... I had no idea really that the world of motherhood including the description of full time house keeper with no days off, like none, never! I have recently tried to convince J that we need to hire a house keeper, once a week, and he said.... that is your job....and I said oh no it isn't.... and he said oh yes it is....and well you get the point!

I came upstairs last night after spending the afternoon on the couch and the morning in bed, to find oatmeal cereal scattered everywhere, coats and shoes and socks everywhere, some serious juice spillage on every square inch of all the counters, lunch boxes and back packs thrown in every direction and I instantly felt overwhelmed. The thought of all the cleaning I had to do once I recovered overwhelmed me....and this was just my kitchen area!!

Thankfully my neighbor had the girls over for dinner when she learned that I had been up all night barfing ( just cuz you needed to know!! :-0 ). What a blessing she is to me! I had them have a bath when they got home and had them in bed by 9 which is WAY too late but they took advantage of my fevered state!! Then when I finally crawled up to my bedroom to have a good soak then hit the sheets......I opened my bathroom door to discover they had bathed in MY bath and there were clothes and wetness EVERYWHERE..... not to mention a nice dirty ring in the bathtub..........great.........then this morning I went into my laundry room to dump all the towels cuz you know they have to use every.single.towel.available. I discovered that indeed our springer spaniel spazz dog is in heat and there were droplets of blood all over the floor....thank goodness for lino and BLEACH! Thankfully I am feeling about 90% better and was able to handle that but my family wasn't done torturing me cuz when I dropped Faith off at preschool I didn't wait for the garage door to completely close, as I had a feeling I should, and sure enough my little Scottie poo squeezed under at the last moment after I peeled down the driveway and got into the garbage and made a nice little mess of it for me right in front of the door........ YUCK

When do we get a day off? when do we get to be sick and have things stay relatively normal? I know one day we will probably miss these days psfvt.... but until then....when you miss a little..... you miss a lot!!!

k rant over...continue with your day!

I don't know why the Mom's have to do everything in the whole darn house. Just because we stay home with the children and make sure lunches are packed, clothes are clean, kids are clean...why they can't pick up after each other!! I feel your pain. My oldest is 11 1/2 We do not have the PMS yet... I can hardly wait. Thanks for the post. Jennifer

OMG this has totally happened to me this year when I had the flu. My aunt called me and said,"don't you know when you're a mom you're not allowed to be sick?!" I understood THAT one right away. And my housekeeper quit on me just after that. I've missed having her around since, because I got sick with pneumonia two months ago and I couldn't get my strength back until a month and 1/2! to this day I am STILL catching up on all the yuck around the house and I've told hubby many times we need to hire someone just for one day to get me caught up. Perhaps if you tried that you could get back on track? It would certainly get rid of the overwhelming feeling! Hey I understand!

I hope you know that your job is the hardest job ever! I don't remember how hard it was when I was a stay at home mom, I just remember that my house was always messy....now it's clean but there's no little ones running around....and I miss that!

Thanks for visiting me!

I hate it when those days happen. I have tried to talk hubby into a house cleaner many times...I wonder if he will break one of these days! Glad you are feeling better and just clean a little at a time. I always have my kids help me out, especially when it is mostly their mess!!

House cleaner? huh, I think in my house her name is Lorna/Mom. Yes, no one ever sees the dirt like I do. I am amazed. They can walk over dust balls in our hall and do nothing about it. One time I left a piece of paper on the kitchen floor just to see how long it would stay there. It totally bugged me the entire time it was there. I just wanted to pick it up. Well, I waited over a week. Yes people, over a week. Needless to say I ended up picking it up and freaked on my family. Phew, I feel better already.

As moms we have a tendency to want to do everything ourselves. I try to not ask the kids for much, cause I had to do so much as a kid.Laundry, cooking dinners, cleaning.Hubby on the other hand makes sure they do chores, because they belong in the house, I am thankful for this.
My 11 year old son can whip through our house and tidy it very nicely. He has been trained to do this, for many years starting young. Liv, is getting there I think girls just take more work over all.
My kids are not slaves or take the place and become house keepers, but we need to train them, by we I mean hubby..no just kidding I do try, but it is definately a week spot for me.

I ask myself this question every freakin' day of my life: "How is it that I can somehow manage to keep my house in some sort of order every day, but if I'm gone a mere two hours, or GOD FORBID get sick....the whole house looks like it got hit but a tornado!! It's like it's not in the male or the child gene to multi-task! Drives me INSANE. I was just sick last week and the same thing happened to me. Real fun to be trying to get over an illness and have to practically re-decorate the whole house to get it clean.
