Hello my lovely beloved bloggers! whew! finally! of all the things to get broken in the move..... my computer was the most inconvenient and annoying! how I have missed my blogging!! and since I got the computer back and internet all working..... my photo loader thingy isn't!!! grrrrr so for now pics will have to wait......sorry.......I will see if I can post the pictures my dad took while they were here.
I can hardly believe it has been a week since we have been here! It took the u-haul 9 hours to drive here and considering how heavy it was, that is amazing time! By the time my parents and I arrived it was 10:30ish at night and as I was driving down my long winding driveway......my heart started pounding. I am so completely blown away by this house! by the property! it is all such a blessing and yes more than I could have ever imagined hoped or thought we would own. The best way to describe the house is colonial/victorian meets country. It is SO HUGE! I have more cupboards in my kitchen then I know what to do with! talk about space! the island in the center of the kitchen has a gas stove top! I always wanted one of those! and a built in wall oven. Just gorgeous. The living room is so cozy with country windows and a gas fireplace, perfect for winter evenings. The screened-in veranda is amazing. It wraps around the front to the side to a door going into the dining room complete with bump out window and crown moldings. The family room is off the kitchen giving it a great room feel with the feeling of family and doing puzzles in front of the floor to ceiling rock fireplace listening to the wood crack and spark. The laundry room is off the garage and is also the boot room, big enough for parkas and my usual overload of laundry baskets. The garage is 1,000 sq feet has double doors and is tall enough to park an RV or boat in! The carpet is soft and plush and hardly makes noise when you walk on it, which is a nice contrast to the oak hardwood flooring that is in the entrance way, kitchen, living room and dining room. The entrance way is open with the open curved staircases taking you either to the top floor and the bedrooms or to the basement. At the top of the staircase going up you come to a great big landing, they used it for their office before but I will use it as a sewing/craft area until we frame it in to make a 4th bedroom upstairs. Down the hall you come to the little girls rooms which are bigger than our last house Master Bedroom and has built in closets. Their bathroom has a soaker tub/shower and although it is snug it is more than enough for the girls. Walking into our master bedroom you see 3 country windows with nice window treatments to the right is our ensuite complete with glass door standing shower which is more than big enough for my 6'.5" hubby.... it is HUGE....then beside that is the soaker jetted Jacuzzi tub sitting in front of a large window overlooking the back yard. The bathroom has a really long counter and even has a red heat lamp to really warm you up. To the left of the door is the biggest walk in closet I have ever seen. It runs the full length of the bedroom and has his and her sides. We can fit our dresser in and a full length mirror! Going down to the basement you come to a large landing that I have NO idea what to do with at this point but am thinking once the landing gets filled in upstairs I will make that my sewing area. That landing leads to a large playroom about 2x the size of our last house's play room. Off the playroom is M's bedroom with her own ensuite with a stand up glass enclosed shower. This room is a little small but we have ordered her a loft bed so she can maximize on space. On the other end of the play room is the media room where the previous owners left us a gift of about $5,000 in tv/dvd/satellites/stereos/speakers.................. another enormous blessing! off the media room is our furnace/hot water tank and the biggest storage room I have ever seen..... can you sense a theme here???? this house is the nicest house I could imagine owning. Not only were we blessed but our cup is running over!
Our property is quite treed with a few affected by the pine beetle and will need to be cut down. There is 4.5 acres and an outbuilding that they used for storage we are going to turn into the barn with only a few minor adjustments to be made. The chicken coop is also ready by being fenced but J will have to make a structure for them. We will also have to fence in a couple of acres for the horses. We hope to have that done in the Spring.
Our neighbors to the right of us have 3 children all close to our kids. They moved here from Abbotsford a month ago and to top it all off........ they are Christians! the blessings continue!
Our kids ride the bus together to school and we have met some other families from the school that are Christians as well.
All in all I think you can tell that we have been blessed and double blessed. I LOVE my new home, love my little community and am thankful for being here.
It was great to have my parents come up with us and help us get settled. They drove us around our neighborhood and we were impressed by all the nice homes and the reality that we live in an upper middle class area.........we had no idea.......we are close to town and yet far enough out to be country. It really is amazing! The girls love their school and M said that she was so shocked that all the grade 7's talk to each other. She hasn't seen any real clicks or snobby group yet. She said this is the best school she has ever been too and she has been to several!
Well I hope that gives you a pretty good idea about what the house is like and I hope you enjoyed the tour, hopefully I can get some pictures on here soon!
